# Design and themes

> Light or dark, your own background image, themes from the oxom store or your own theme.

## The design in the editor

Under **SITE → Bearbeiten** (edit), section **Design**:

* **Hell** (light) or **Dunkel** (dark)
* Themes you got from the oxom store or uploaded yourself also appear here as a tile
* For more themes, go to **SITE → Themes**

### Background

**1. Upload an image**

Click **Bild hochladen** (upload image). Landscape from 1600 px wide looks good on all devices. Images up to 8 MB are allowed, oxom resizes them itself.

**2. Choose the dimming**

So your links stay readable, oxom puts a dark layer over the image: **Aus, Leicht, Mittel, Stark** or **Sehr stark** (off, light, medium, strong, very strong). The default is medium.

**3. Save**

Click **Speichern** (save) in the bar at the bottom.

The background stays fixed while scrolling. **Bild ersetzen** (replace image) and **Entfernen** (remove) are in the same place. If a theme brings its own image, it replaces your background.

### Font for the name

**Standard** or **OXOM GRID**. OXOM GRID is oxom's brand font and can be unlocked in the oxom store. It only knows the letters A to Z.

## Themes from the oxom store

Under **SITE → Themes** you see all themes side by side, each with a real preview of your own page. If your page isn't published yet, the preview shows sample content.

| **Kostenlos holen** (get for free) | The theme is yours and is applied right away |
| **… kaufen** (buy) | Pay via Stripe, then it gets unlocked |
| **… Coins** | Pay with your coins, 10 coins are 1 € |
| **Anwenden** (apply) | You already have it, one click puts it on your page |
| **Angewendet** (applied) | The theme is currently active |

At the top you see how many coins you have. You get coins e.g. when one of your [feature requests](https://learn.oxom.de/en/werkzeuge/agent/funktion-anfragen.md) gets built or you refer a creator.

## Uploading your own theme

For people who like to design themselves: under **SITE → Themes**, section **Eigene Themes** (your own themes), you upload a theme as an `.oxom` package, at most 5 MB.

**1. Get a template**

Download the **Beispiel-Theme** (sample theme) or use the **Vorlage auf GitHub** (template on GitHub).

**2. Adjust**

A package consists of `manifest.json`, `theme.json` with colors, corner radii and font, optionally `theme.css` and an `assets/` folder for images.

**3. Upload**

Drag the file into the field or click to choose it. If something is wrong, oxom shows file and line.

**4. Apply**

Check it with **Vorschau** (preview), then **Anwenden**.

If you upload the same theme again with a higher `version` in `manifest.json`, it is added as a new version.

> Imprint, verification check mark, the notice “Werbung” (advertising) and “Powered by OXOM” can't be changed by any theme. Packages that try are rejected by oxom. For an exclusive theme there is then the button **Exklusives Theme anfragen** (request an exclusive theme).
