# Create links

> Create a short link, with group and start time.

## Create a short link

**1. Open the dialog**

Under **LINK → Übersicht** (overview), click **Neuen Link anlegen** (create new link). Faster: the <kbd>C</kbd> key or <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>K</kbd> → “Link erstellen” (create link).

**2. Choose the short link**

Under **Kurzlink** (short link) you choose the domain (only if you have several) and the ending, e.g. `merch`. The arrow button next to it creates a random ending. Below you see the finished link.

**3. Enter the target**

Under **Ziel-URL** (target URL) enter the address the link should lead to. It has to start with `https://` or `http://`.

**4. Optional: group and start time**

**Gruppe** (group) files the link. Set **Live ab** (live from) if the link should only redirect later. Empty means: right away.

**5. Create**

**Link anlegen** (create link). The link works right away, or from the start time.

## Rules for the ending

* Lowercase letters, digits and `. _ ~ -`. Uppercase letters become lowercase.
* Slashes work too, e.g. `deals/voltaro`. That way you build your own sections.
* Only `api` is reserved, as the whole first part: `api` and `api/…` don't work, `apidocs` or `deals/api` do.
* Each ending exists only once per domain. Deleted links also keep their ending for 30 days, so you can restore them.

## Live from: unlocking links at a specific time

For drops, premieres or giveaways: with **Live ab** the short link only redirects from the chosen time on. Before that, the visitor lands where unknown links land too, see [fallback target](https://learn.oxom.de/en/werkzeuge/link/einstellungen.md#when-a-link-does-not-redirect).

So you can put the link into the video description and story today. In the overview such links show **Live ab …**, and the filter **Geplant** (scheduled) shows them to you.

## Groups

Groups sort your links, e.g. by campaign or platform. In the overview links are listed by group, “Ohne Gruppe” (no group) last. Groups can be collapsed.

**1. Create a group**

In the overview click **+ Gruppe**, enter a name, e.g. “Twitch Overlays”, and **Anlegen** (create). In the dialog “Neuen Link anlegen” you can also do it directly via **Neue Gruppe** (new group).

**2. Assign links**

When creating, in the menu of a row or in the details of a link.

Groups can't be renamed or deleted yet.

## Other ways to a short link

* **Agent:** “Make me a short link to my shop, ending shop.” Also with a start time.

* **Import:** many links at once, see [Import and export](https://learn.oxom.de/en/werkzeuge/link/import-export.md).
* **Documents:** In HUB documents you can shorten a selected address directly.
